Arc Locking Knives, Axis Locking Knives, Cam Locking Knives Offered at 888 Knives R Us!
Ever wonder
what the difference is between an Axis Locking system and an Arc Locking system?
Technically, the Axis lock has a bar which moves freely in a slot, whereas the
Arc lock's pin is anchored to a small bar, which is in turn anchored to the
handle, allowing the bar to move in an arc within its slot - hence the name.
Both systems have three points of contact on the blade tang when open - the
pivot pin, the stop pin, and the locking pin.
As far as a Cam Locking System goes, a lock for positively maintaining
the knife blade in a locked condition comprising an upstanding locking pin which
is integrally formed with the knife blade and which is received by an opening
in a pivotal toggle mounted on the upper end of the blade handle. The toggle
is yieldably maintained in its locked condition by a coil spring mounted in
an elongated bore formed in the knife handle.
On this page, you will find a sampling of several manufacturers
