Knife Blade Damascus Bar. 12 1/4" x 2 3/8" x 1/8". This damascus steel is in the annealed (soft) state so you can cut, drill, and grind it with normal metal working tools and equipment. After working the blade it must be heat treated (hardened and tempered). It must then be etched to bring out the pattern of the Damascus. Etch in Muriatic Acid from the local hardware store. BE SURE TO FOLLOW LABEL SAFETY DIRECTIONS! Be sure the steel is clean! Etch time varies. Start with 5 minutes, then wipe and repeat until desired etch depth is reached.
