RETIRED MODEL - LIMITED QUANTITIES!
When the older collectors talk about handmade folding knives, they always
start with Jess Horn and Ron Lake. While it is true that people were making
folders before the 1960s and early 1970s when these men started, those earliest
knives were all crude or fine copies of existing factory knives. These two
men were different, they made knives of remarkable design and quality work.
Ron and Jess are the first generation of FINE handmade folder makers. They
inspired hundreds of talented folder makers in second and third generations
whose work will inspire yet another generation, most of whom would never
know of either Horn or Lake except through their collaborations with companies
like Columbia River Knife and Tool.
This knife is Ron Lake's
first knife designed around the liner-lock which was invented by his friend
Michael Walker. This knife uses Ron's Interframe patent, putting inlays
into the solid metal of each side of the knife. It also has a remarkable
version of the Lake-Walker-Knife-Safety (LAWKS) invented jointly by Lake
and Walker. On this knife, instead of a thumb button or lever, the pocket
clip locks the knife open and prevents the release of the blade lock until
the clip is returned to the unlock position.
