The concept for the Makora evolved from the famous Microtech Ultratech design.
It has been field tested and proven over several years. This design incorporates
many features, which have been desired and specified by users who prefer this
highly effective tool, over any other. The Makora's spring remains in an "at
rest" position at all times except when deployed. With no fatigue on the
compressed spring when the knife is not in use, this gives the users the reliability
and confidence that when the release is pushed, the knife will operate. Other
features include: quick and efficient one handed open and close action, anti-
slip inlays in the top and bottom of the handle, a 154-cm wear resistant double
edge blade, an ambidextrous pocket clip, twin pommel strikes, a lanyard attachment,
tamper resistant screws, and a machined grip with a large actuating button for
easy operation with gloves.
Microtech's 2009 Series Makora takes the Ultratech basic 6061-T6 aluminum handle
and adds a black carbon fiber inlay insert on the handle. In this model, Microtech
also added blued titatnium screws for a very unique look. The clip is attached
with Microtech's carbide glass breaker, which has also been titanium blued, and
is movable for right or left hand carry. The blade measures 4.25" and is
constructed of S30V stainless steel blade coated with Microtech's diamond like
carbon coating (DLC) for steel preservation ind increased performance.
